Where your work is kept, and what leaves your browser.
Last updated 4 September 2026
Most of this app runs on your own machine. That's a deliberate design choice, and it means there's very little for us to hold.
Your project stays in your browser
The site you're building is saved in your browser's own storage, not on our server. We can't see your project, and there's no account to sign into. The flip side: if you clear your browser data, it's gone. Use Save project to keep a copy of the file yourself.
What leaves your browser, and when
Nothing is sent anywhere until you use one of these four features. Each one is something you choose to do:
| When you | What goes out, and to whom |
|---|---|
| Use Write copy | The business details you've entered are sent to Anthropic's API, which writes the draft text and sends it back. Under their API terms that input isn't used to train their models, and we don't keep a copy of it. |
| Use Share | A copy of the page is stored so the link works. Share previews expire after 30 days and are never indexed by search engines. |
| Publish | Your email address and chosen web address go to Stripe to start the subscription, and the finished site goes to Netlify to be hosted. Your site is then public, because that's the point of publishing. |
| Open the app | The current price is fetched from our server, which reads it from Stripe. Nothing about you is sent. |
Payment
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never passes through our app and we never store it. We can see that a subscription exists, the email you gave for the receipt, and whether payment succeeded. That is all.
Everything we collect, in one table
App stores publish a "nutrition label" listing every data type an app touches. Site Builder is a website rather than a store app, so it has no label to file, but the same list is worth having in plain sight.
| What | Why | Who else sees it | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your project: business details, text, photos | To build the site | Nobody. It stays in your browser | Until you clear it |
| Email address | Receipts, and reaching you about your site | Stripe | While subscribed, then as long as tax records require |
| Card details | Payment | Stripe only. They never reach us | Held by Stripe, not by us |
| Business details you send to Write copy | To draft your text | Anthropic, who do not train on it | Not kept by us |
| A copy of your page, if you use Share | To make the link work | Anyone with the link | 30 days, deleted daily |
| That you visited, and how far you got | To learn which advert worked | Meta, and only if you said yes | Held by Meta under their policy |
| IP address, when fonts load | To fetch the typefaces | Google Fonts | Not kept by us |
We do not collect your location, your contacts, your browsing on other sites, or anything about your device beyond what a web server is sent to answer a request. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have never done so.
What we hold
- Your email address, given at checkout, so we can send receipts and reach you about your site.
- Your subscription status and the address your site is published at.
- The published site itself, because we're hosting it.
We don't sell any of it, don't share it with advertisers, and don't send marketing you didn't ask for.
Cookies and tracking
Nothing is measured unless you say yes. The first time you use the builder, a bar along the bottom asks whether we may measure which advert brought you here. Until you answer, and for good if you answer no, no request of any kind is made to an advertising company, not even to load their script.
If you say yes, we load the Meta (Facebook) pixel. It sets cookies in your browser and tells Meta that you visited, that you started building a site, that you went to the checkout, and whether you paid. It does not send them your business details, your text or your photos. Meta uses what it receives under their own privacy policy, which we do not control. You can change your mind at any time: reopen the cookie choice.
Everything else stores nothing about you. Browser storage holds your project and your settings and never leaves your device. Stripe sets its own cookies during checkout, on Stripe's pages, under Stripe's policy.
The app loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives a request from your browser, including your IP address, when the fonts load.
How long we keep it
While your subscription is running, and afterwards only as long as we need to for records and tax purposes. Share previews are deleted after 30 days by a job that runs every day, whether or not anyone opens the link again. When a subscription ends, the published site comes down.
Your say over it
Email business@groveandholtweb.com to ask for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We'll do it, subject to anything we're legally required to keep. Your project itself you can already delete yourself: it is in your browser.
Children
Site Builder is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect anything from children.
Changes
If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
